The lives of great men do not begin at birth, but in the mind of God from creation. So it is in the life of our Pastor, Supt. Anthony L. Williams.
Anthony Lamont Williams is a son of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. His heritage is rooted deep with an extensive family history of loyalty and service
to the Church. Supt. Williams' Great-great Grandmother, Mother Bennie Benbow Roberts, built
the first "pulpit" for the Church out of a soap box, hammer and nails. Mother Roberts' pastor was the founding father of our Church, the late
Bishop Charles Harrison Mason. Supt. Williams' late Grandfather, the honorable Bishop
Bennie Roberts Benbow, Sr. and his late Grandmother, Mother Rachel Benbow, have instituted traditions and received numerous appointments and rewards within the confines of our Church. Supt. Williams' Grandparents were appointed as the first Bishop and Supervisor of Nigeria, West Africa and left a legacy of power while
trailblazing a path of success for him to continue on.
Supt. Williams is a devoted and caring family man to
his wife, Lady Bukeka Williams and their three children, Christian,
Ava, and Farah. He was born, raised and baptized in our Church. He began his
ministry singing in the various choirs and playing the drums in our local church. He
accepted the calling on his life and was ordained as an Elder in 1997. The late Bishop B.R. Benbow
began to mentor and train Supt. Williams and he remained under Bishop Benbow's tutelage for over 40 years! Supt. Williams begin to seek
the Lord in His fullness motivating him to complete a higher level of education from Universal
Life College where he obtained his Master's Degree in Religion. Supt. Williams has served as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation
School Teacher, and Bible Study Teacher. He has taught the Ministers class, New Members class and has taught on the ordinances and the doctrine of our Church. Supt. Williams has served as a Grand Marshall for our Jurisdiction, California Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction; served on the National Auxiliaries in Ministries
(AIM) Committee for the Evangelism Department; and also served as a National Adjutant, completing his training in the year 2000 and he continues to labor in love for the Church today. In 2003, Bishop Benbow elevated Supt. Williams to the role of Assistant Pastor and in 2006, he further elevated him to Co-Pastor.
In September, 2009, Bishop Benbow passed the mantle to his grandson and appointed Supt. Williams Pastor of the 88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ. Bishop Benbow had great confidence in his grandson's ability to continue to lead and be a shepherd over God's people and in 2011, he elevated Pastor Williams to the office of District Superintendent of The Light District within the Jurisdiction and added several churches to the roster. Supt. Williams' ministry continues to flourish and he is dedicated to winning souls for Christ and teaching practical applications of the Word of God to a new generation. Supt. Williams' mission is simple; to promote purpose, prayer, power, and praise in the lives of others through the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
"And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ!" Ephesians 4:11-12
